I also got some new toys in the mail today that I can't wait to play with - some new feet for my sewing machine including a ruffler foot. It looks really intimidating, but I know once I figure the thing out it'll be great for making ruffles on dresses (among other things) for Princess.
Next up: some flannel jammies for Mokey, Princess and I and then I've got a couple of tops for myself and two dresses for Princess that I'm really excited to get to work on.
Sweet bag, Dusty, and your little ones are so cute! You will LOVE the ruffler once you get the hang of it. When my Lydia was growing up, I pulled it out to make her dresses, and it's great for home decorating, too.
ReplyDeleteYou just need to 'play' around with it to learn what settings you want it on, ex: -longer/shorter stitch,
-gather every stitch or every 6th, and -different fabric weights.
The best advice I can give (as if you asked!) is to allow extra fabric for gathering, because it doesn't come out into a guaranteed measurement finish.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the advice! I definitely need all the help I can get. I'm excited about the ruffler but it definitely looks intimidating!
ReplyDeleteLove the apron, hats and skirt you made on your previous posts. your kids are so cheek pinching cute! And the Hazel here looks great - love the colors you choose. You up for another test? I have another one I'm working on. I hope to have it ready for testing in less than two weeks if you are up for the challenge. It's my latest version of the Madison bag I posted about a few weeks ago...
ReplyDeleteOoh! I'd love to do another test! E-mailing you.....
